In the film "The Right Stuff", the Russians and the US are competing to have the first man in space. They have spies on both sides and are racing to be the best. In the end, the US had the first monkey in space but Russia had the first man in space.
From the film generally I would say that I would remain how desperate the US seemed to beat Russia at everything and how the Russians just sat there and laughed.
Maybe, if the US was a bit calmer with their race for providence then there might have been a chance for them to win more competitions
I think the US has finally learned to play their cards right with exception of a few bad leaders.
